City Club Apartments announced today that it has executed a lease for a 3,500-square-foot brew pub and entertainment venue in the historic 1907 Handicraft Guild Building and Assembly Hall adjacent to its new 17-story mixed-use apartment and penthouse high-rise. City Club Apartments Chairman and CEO Jonathan Holtzman made the announcement.

“We are thrilled to be announcing Eleven Artisans,” said Holtzman. “The owners are natives of the Twin Cities and have decades of experience in hospitality, entertainment and historic conversions. They are outstanding operators, passionate about the city.”

The Eleven Artisans name is derived from a community of 11 female artists who pioneered a creative movement in downtown Minneapolis in the early 1900’s. They created their art in the Handicraft Guild Building and Assembly Hall and were very active with local schools, museums and the surrounding neighborhoods. The new brew pub is located at 95 South 10th Street and will be designed by local Minneapolis firm Shea Design.

“The name is a celebration of the building’s rich history and connection to the community,” said Holtzman. “It’s fitting considering the attention to detail and creativity that the owners are putting into food and drink menus and indoor and outdoor space planning and design.”

Eleven Artisans will meld the historic building’s warm brick and wood materials with modern furniture and fixtures. Described as “comfortably classy,” the brew pub will offer a full range of its own craft beers, rotating handles, wine and cocktails. The menu will include everything from small plates and sharables to full entrées. The owners plan to host special events including brewers dinners and menus tied to Eleven Artisans own craft brews.

The restaurant will have more than 60 indoor seats, 60 outdoor seats and capacity for another 100 guests in the Assembly Hall. The upstairs space features 100-year-old wood trusses, 30-foot-ceilings and a wide-open floor plan. The space will serve as an overflow for the indoor bar and can be rented for weddings, holiday parties and other special events.

The outdoor patio and green area will be its own functional space with a bar, walk-up grill, backyard games and live music. A European-inspired green corridor will connect the restaurant to the downtown streets.

The owners plan to release additional information about the brew pub in the weeks and months ahead. Eleven Artisans is expected to open in Fall 2019.
